The rhino class is our baby class for children under the age of 2 years. The children still participate in the activities and themes that the rest of the school are busy with.
The Zebra class’s main focus is learning through play. We do age-appropriate activities, manipulative play, play dough, building blocks, water play, repetition through rhymes and songs, fine and gross motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination, painting with their hands and different types of objects, puzzle building, colours, sorting of objects, shapes, position, sink and float activities as well as obstacle courses which the children enjoy.
The aim of the elephant class is to enhance vocabulary through repetition, songs and games, to build up their perceptual skills and allow the child to use different mediums to create artwork.
In the Giraffe class the main focus is on cutting around simple shapes, learning how to hold a pencil correctly, knowing basic colours, counting to 15, puzzle building memory games, balancing on one leg, bouncing a large ball and hopping. Their vocabulary will be enhanced through singing songs and listening to stories and answering questions. Whilst being busy with all of this learning the children will primarily have lots of fun!
The aim of the Lion is to ensure that the children are socially, emotionally and educationally ready for Grade 1. Margie teaches using the holistic style which entails getting the child to think and reason and problem solve through experimentation. Gross and fine motor schools, spatial orientation, speech and language, body awareness, perception, numeracy concepts, colours and shapes etc. are taught in the Lion class.
